As many of you know, I’d just started a library giveaway a couple of days before my site went down. It was impossible to gather and track entries without the website, and since my server host hadn’t backed up my data, I lost everything.
But like many in this economy, libraries are struggling. Faced with budget cuts and severe restrictions on their spending, many of them are currently imposed with buying freezes, which makes it impossible to add new books to their shelves.
So I’m going to try this again by giving away a complete set of the Prophecy of the Sisters Trilogy to five libraries in the US and/or Canada and a choice of any one of the Prophecy books to five readers who spread the word about the library giveaway.
Here’s how it works;
If you’re a librarian or library representative, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO ENTER IS LEAVE A COMMENT HERE ABOUT WHY YOU’D LIKE TO WIN THE BOOKS FOR YOUR LIBRARY. You may enter on behalf of a library as long as the mailing address for the books, should you win, is a library or school.You don’t have to post your library’s address on your entry (you can send it to us if you win) so long as the address we ultimately mail the books to is a school or library.
I’m also going to throw in some color-coded wristbands and bookmarks for each of the Prophecy books that you can use as giveaways or reading incentives for your kids.

Your entry will not count if you don’t include these things because we want libraries to be able to find the page to enter and it will be next to impossible for Rebekah to count your entries without the tags and hashtag.
You get one entry for every time you Tweet with the hashtag and/or post to your FB status. Contest runs from now until next Wednesday, October 4th at Midnight EST. Library and reader winners will be announced together the following Sunday. This contest is open to residents of the US and Canada.
I apologize to those libraries and readers who had already entered this contest before my site went down. I’m deeply sorry to make you repeat the effort, but I think this is an important giveaway and I didn’t want to blow it off because of the site outage.

I’ve been working as there book buddy volunteer for almost a year. In December it will be a whole year since I started being an active volunteer. I always notice there new books and it takes them so long to get them they have COF on order finally so I can’t wait to read. Expect a great review on goodreads.
I’d love to be able to share these with our many teen readers (and also adults!) As with many other libraries, our library stuggles each year with budget cuts and our budgets are spent all too fast. It would be wonderful to be able to make these available to patrons!

It is a VERY tough time for libraries right now. I’m sorry to hear that you have been faced with budget cuts. The high school my teens attend is in the same position, with even library hours being cut because so many positions were eliminated in the last round of budget cuts. I am the library director for the Independence Public Library in Independence, Kansas. We just recently hired a full-time teen library clerk because teens are using our library more than ever before! We are beginning to offer teen book discussions and programming. We are even starting a new online book club, Not Your Mama’s Book Club, for teens. We would love to incorporate more of your books into our collection to use in future programming.

So happy to hear teens are using your library. As a mother of four teens, I know they only congregate where they feel welcome, so you are obviously doing a very good job. Let’s face it, getting them there is half the battle!

I would love to be able to have these books on the shelves for young adult patrons at our small town library. I think the teenage girls can relate to your books. So many teens don’t read, they are too busy texting or talking on the phone. Anything we can do to get them hooked on reading is a plus!

Technology is absolutely a blessing and a curse, and no more so than when it comes to teens and reading. It is a real challenge to get them to put down their devices! I talk to teens about this a lot when I visit schools, because it’s not JUST the reading. I’m convinced that the human soul NEEDS times of peaceful quiet. I always challenge teens to experiment with technology-free times, even if it’s charging their phone in another room when they head to bed so they can read and sleep without the thought of their phone in their sub-conscience. Whether or not they actually try it… well, who knows?! But we can try.
Anyway, wishing you luck on the book giveaway and many hours of happy reading to you and your teens.

I am a future librarian (in my last year of library school) and volunteer at a small private library that is trying to build up their YA section. I think your books would be a great addition. Thank you SO much for thinking of libraries. I have all three books and love them.
How kind of you to volunteer your time, Amanda! One of the things that most excites me about the interest in YA is that so many young people are now interested in reading, publishing, and libraries. It will be interesting to see if there’s an uptick in the number of people entering those careers in the next decade or so, yes?

I live in Boston, near the smallest library in the district. I love to read and always have, so I think these books will help to encourage young adults to come to the library that I adore, and spend their after school hours in a warm, safe place, away from trouble. This particular library has a dwindling young adult section and this could really help!
I would LOVE to win these books for my high school library. My kids and teachers would devour these, especially since our book budget has been drastically hacked to near extinction over the past two years.
What a great idea to help out libraries! I recently started working at our small town public library as well as volunteering for our elementary school library! Your books would be an awesome addition to the public library or jr/high library…like all things in illnoilibraries were hit too! We have some great kids who love to read!

Michelle you are sooooo right! The public is still under the impression that libraries are mainly funded by the state but that is so far from the truth. This year if we’re lucky our library will bring in about $1100.00 from state aid. That is for the whole year! It is donations like yours that help us to keep going, besides it’s a lot of fun also.

I am entering on behalf of my little library. I love the library system and think that communities are better places because of them. Every extra book I have gets donated to my library. I would love for my library to win this awesome set of books because A) they don’t have all of the books in the series. AND B) I am the one that left the book on top of my car and drove off. Sending Prophecy of the Sisters into the street…in the rain. ( After I waited three months to get it – so they obviously could use a second copy with the gigantic waiting list)

I would love to win these for my town’s library, as I know they’re hitting rough times. I spent my whole childhood in that place, surrounded by books, and my grandmother worked there are a librarian for countless years. They really deserve to have some more amazing books, especially since I don’t believe that they have any of yours yet.
