Promises I Made ARC Giveaway

PromisesIMade HC CI can’t believe we’re only a little over a month away from the release of Promises I Made. It’s so nice to have this duet released nine months apart instead of a year, which is more standard for series. It’s always hard to wait such a long time for a book!

I’m especially excited to share the conclusion to this story. It’s a story that really speaks to a struggle I think many of us share — the struggle to believe that we are really worthy and deserving of love and hope and all the beauty that life has to offer. You can preorder it here (and with any book retailer), and if you haven’t read LIES I TOLD, you can do so here (also available at B&N, Kobo, Ibooks, and local Indie).

In the meantime, I have two very coveted ARCs available for giveaway. There are lots of easy ways to enter, and if you already follow me on Twitter or Instgram, or you are part of my Reader List, you may already have entries in the bank.

Beach Read Giveaway!

You guys… It’s summer! The kids are out of school, the sun is (mostly) shining, and I can finally turn off that pesky 6:15am alarm. Not only that, but after years of releasing books in the winter, I finally have a perfect beach read with my name on it.

As many of you know, LIES I TOLD is set in the fictional beach town of Playa Hermosa, California. All of Grace’s lies and deceit — not to mention her love affair with Logan Fairchild, the one boy she’s not supposed to love – are set against the backdrop of crashing waves, surfer boys, and sunshine.

To celebrate the intersection of these two awesome events, I’m giving away TEN awesome prize packs.

You heard that right; TEN!

FullSizeRender-26Each prize pack includes a signed hardcover of LIES I TOLD, a tote bag, a mini-notebook for all your secret summer thoughts, a summer-scented hand cream, raspberry lemonade lip balm, nail polish, tropical candy, peacock pocket mirror, and a LIES I TOLD/PROMISES I MADE bookmark.

As always, there are lots of ways to enter. Some of them you can do once a day and get a point for each one. Others (like leaving a review of the book if you’ve already read it) will gain you up to FIVE points all by themselves. I’m keeping this contest short, ending it on Monday July 6th so you’ll still have plenty of time to make use of your goodies.

Contest open to US mailing addresses only. Pattern on tote bag and notebook, and nail polish color, vary.

HAPPY SUMMER, YOU GUYS!

Winners All Around!

Well, it’s been exactly a month since LIES I TOLD released and I finally get to announce winners in the release day giveaway, plus one lucky Street Team winner. But first, a huge thank you to everyone who helped me spread the word. My street team especially really went to the mat for me, distributing swag all over their hometowns in places where teens were most likely to see it. I have no idea if this kind of guerrilla effort makes a difference in actual sales, but it sure made me feel amazing to have so much support at what can be a stressful (though exciting!) time.

Promises I Made, the final installment in the LIES duology, will be out in November. Then I have a VERY special surprise for my adult readers later in the year, plus a new YA romance out next summer (details soon). So please stay tuned for more bookish awesomeness, and of course, future giveaways. In the meantime, please continue to spread the word about LIES I TOLD to all your friends, and if you’ve read it and enjoyed it, please leave a review on Amazon/B&N/Goodreads. It really does make a difference!

And now for the big moment…

Out of the 83 Street Team participants, the winner was lucky number 22. And that was TINA JOHNSTON! Tina has won a $100 Visa gift card, a complete set of my signed books, and a few other fun things that I’ll throw in as a surprise.

Congratulations, Tina!

We also have three winners in the release day giveaway.

The first prize winner is Layne Alexandria! Layne wins a $250 Visa gift card or gift card to the bookstore of her choice, Victoria’s Secret bath gel and body lotion, tropical inspired nail polish and candy, grapefruit lip balm, a bookmark, peacock pocket mirror, and an entire library of my signed, currently published books (Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy, A Temptation of Angels, This Wicked Game, and LIES I TOLD).

Second prize goes to Karrie Millheim, who wins a $100 Visa gift card or gift card to the bookstore of her choice, Victoria’s Secret bath gel and body lotion, tropical inspired nail polish and candy, grapefruit lip balm, a bookmark, peacock pocket mirror, and an entire library of my signed, currently published books (Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy, A Temptation of Angels, This Wicked Game, and LIES I TOLD).

And big congrats to our third prize winner, Tracee Baxter. Tracee wins a tropical inspired nail polish and candy, grapefruit lip balm, a bookmark, peacock pocket mirror, an entire library of my signed, currently published books (Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy, A Temptation of Angels, This Wicked Game, and LIES I TOLD) PLUS a signed ARC of PROMISES I MADE, sequel to LIES and the final book in Grace Fontaine’s story (out in November of this year).

Congratulations, all! I’ll be sending an email to make sure you know you won, and also to find out if you’d like Visa gift cards or book store gift cards.

Enjoy it all in good health!

It’s LIES I TOLD Release Day!

It’s LIES I TOLD Release Day!

And YOUR chance to win tons of amazing goodies.

😉

This book is so important to me, and while I’m going to do a longer blog post tomorrow about the thematic elements and why I believe Grace is someone everyone can identify with (even if you haven’t been adopted by a “family” of scheming con artists), today I just want to say….

YAY! Yay for me and yay for all of you who have helped and supported me through the years. I’m lucky to feel like I “know” so many of my readers. When I sign into social media, it’s often like entering a giant coffee klatch where everyone is cheering each other on, celebrating the good times and propping each other up during the bad.

Writing has been a lifesaver for me in more ways than one. Aside from being the only source of income for my family (I’m a single mom), it also serves as a distraction from my often persistent inner demons. No matter how depressed or anxious or sad or sacred I get, writing is always there to get me out of my own head. And sometimes, that’s the only cure for what ails me.

Anyway, this is all just to say… thank you. Thank you for buying my books and spreading the word and sharing my posts online and propping me up when the going gets tough. In the coming days, I’ll be posting specific ways you can help this book succeed, this heartfelt book that has FOUR out of FOUR stellar trade reviews, including a star from Kirkus (hint for now; buy it, review it, tell your friends about it).

Now let’s talk swag.

😉

Those of you who have been with me awhile  know that I am (*cough*) kind of famous for giving good swag. And while change is usually a good thing, I kind of want to keep my swag creed, thank you very much.

With that in mind, I’m offering up THREE awesome prizes;

photo-29First Prize; a $250 Visa gift card or gift card to the bookstore of your choice (gift cards are not pictured since I don’t know which one the winner will want), Victoria’s Secret bath gel and body lotion, tropical inspired nail polish and candy, grapefruit lip balm, a bookmark, peacock pocket mirror, and an entire library of my signed, currently published books (Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy, A Temptation of Angels, This Wicked Game, and LIES I TOLD).

Second Prize; a $100 Visa gift card or gift card to the bookstore of your choice, Victoria’s Secret bath gel and body lotion, tropical inspired nail polish and candy, grapefruit lip balm, a bookmark, peacock pocket mirror, and an entire library of my signed, currently published books (Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy, A Temptation of Angels, This Wicked Game, and LIES I TOLD).

Third Prize; Tropical inspired nail polish and candy, grapefruit lip balm, a bookmark, peacock pocket mirror, an entire library of my signed, currently published books (Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy, A Temptation of Angels, This Wicked Game, and LIES I TOLD) PLUS a signed ARC of PROMISES I MADE, sequel to LIES and the final book in Grace Fontaine’s story (out in November of this year).

photo-30You can enter in so many ways, all of them centered around helping me spread the word about LIES I TOLD. You can do simple things like share the link to this giveaway or a link to the LIES WE TOLD video. You can change your Twitter picture to the cover or write a lie on a tiny piece of paper and hide it somewhere, then post the picture with the hashtag (see photo of mine), each  for FIVE entries. You can do some of the things once a day for the duration of the giveaway (earning up to 30 entries if you do them every day), and others will earn you as many as FIVE entries in one shot. Basically, you can do as much or as little as you want! You MUST use #LiesITold on all Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr entries for them to count. You also must be following me on those sites if you post there. Contest runs through May 7th at Midnight EST and is open to residents of the US and Canada. The Lies video mentioned as an entry option will be up later today.

Good luck, you guys! I can’t wait to see all your posts (and keep your eyes out for mine, because I plan to leave some lies around, too…)

Send Us Your Lie!

I have a surprise for you guys! I made you a video message.

🙂

As part of the LIES I TOLD launch, we’ll be putting together a video compilation about lies and we want YOU to participate. All you have to do is send a short video message to the Skype address LIESITOLD. Your message should explain a lie someone has told you or one you’ve told yourself, how that lie has impacted you, and how you go about forgiving or moving on from the lie. Once all the messages are received, we’ll put them together with some music and it will be really awesome. Plus, I’ll send personal video messages and a signed hardcover of LIES I TOLD to the first five people to send in their messages.

Oh, and one more thing. I’ll be participating, too, so you’ll get to here a lie of mine as well.

It’s only fair!

Deadline for entries is Tuesday March 24, Midnight EST.

Can’t wait to see your videos!

Also, my shadow and I need a haircut. It’s been a long winter.

😉

PROMISES I MADE Cover Reveal!

You guys! I honestly feel spoiled these last few days. I’m not sure anyone has a right to so many fun, exciting things in one week. I’ve shared another AH-mazing review for LIES I TOLD (that makes three out of three, including that starred review from Kirkus) plus the absolutely gorgeous beyond-my-wildest-dreams finished copy of the book. And while that may seem like a small thing, covers are SO IMPORTANT to a book’s success, and the amazing design team at HarperTeen really pulled out all the stops, surprising me with a treatment on the back cover that I can only describe as badass (follow me on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram for a look).

But wait! There’s more!

I also get to reveal the cover of PROMISES I MADE (FALL 2015), the sequel to LIES I TOLD. And those of you who have read an ARC of LIES know why getting your hot little hands on the PROMISES ARC is a big deal.

I’m zipping my lips now.

Nope. Not saying one word!

😉

Suffice it to say that after you read LIES, you’re going to want to get your hands on one of these babies.

So without further ado…

PromisesIMade HC C

Isn’t she a beauty? I love this cover because it really captures Grace’s fear and isolation in the second book. She looks hunted – and she is.

To celebrate the reveal of this amazing cover for PROMISES, I’m giving away one of my very first ARCs. It’s a precious commodity, guys! But I’m willing to part with it if you’ll help me spread the word. And with that in mind, I’ve set up an easy-peasy giveaway below.

There are tons of day ways to get entries, some of which you can do more than once a day, and some of which are as easy as tweeting or following me on one of my social media platforms (which I know a lot of you already do). Just pick the one(s) that suit you and you’re all set!

P.S. because of Rafflecopter’s rules, this giveaway won’t officially start until Midnight tonight. Don’t worry, I’ll remind you to come back and enter. I was just DYING to share the cover.

🙂

LIES I TOLD Sneak Peek and ARC Giveaway

Goodreads_CoverRight now on Goodreads you can enter to win one of three advance copies. Which is the perfect excuse to give you guys a sneak peek.

😉

Looking back, I should have known Playa Hermosa was the beginning of the end. We’d had a good run, and if things were sometimes tense between Mom, Dad, and Parker, it was nothing a new job couldn’t fix. Just when they’d be at each other’s throats, we’d move on to a new town.

And there was nothing like a new town to remind us which team we were on.

But Playa Hermosa was different. It was like another world. One where the old rules didn’t apply. Like the exotic birds on the peninsula, we were suddenly all on our own.

Except it didn’t feel like that right away. In the beginning, it was business as usual. Plot the con, get into character, work our way in, stick together.

I don’t know if it was my relationship with Logan that tipped everything over the edge or if the signs had been there long before. Either way, I tell myself it was for the best. The universe seems to have its own mysterious plan. I guess we’re just along for the ride. I can live with that. The harder part, the impossible part, is living with what I did to Logan and his family.

We knew what we were doing. Knew the risks. But Logan and his family were good. Maybe the first really good people I’d ever met. They loved each other, sacrificed for each other. Not because they didn’t have anyone else, but because that’s what love is.

What happened to them is my fault. And I’m still trying to figure out if I can live with that.

Then there’s Parker. Deep down, I know the choice was his. But I can’t help wondering if he stuck around because of me. If he hadn’t, everything would be different, and he’d probably be drinking beer in Barcelona or coffee in Paris or something.

I can’t think about the other stuff. Thinking about it forces me back to the question; Why didn’t I see it? Had the end of our family been one sudden, impulsive decision that set into motion a string of events that changed everything? Or had it all been a long time coming? I think that would be worse, because if it was true, it meant that I was hopelessly, unforgivably naive.

And there’s no crime as unforgivable as naivety when you’re on the grift.

Wicked Tainted Giveaway!

Tainted_CoverToday I’m super excited to announce a giveaway featuring This Wicked Game and two books from author A.E. Rought.

Ann is a friend of mine. She also happens to be a great writer. Her book BROKEN has been optioned for TV by ABC Family. TAINTED, the sequel to BROKEN, was recently released and I want to help her celebrate. If you love paranormal romance with an especially dark (and sometimes grisly) edge, these are the books for you!

Here’s a summary of TAINTED;

Alex Franks believes the madness is behind them. With Ascension Labs under his direction and the forces threatening Emma’s life overcome, they have a chance at a normal life, and keeping his secrets safely buried. But a shadow rises from Alex’s past, and she wants him back. Criminally brilliant, Hailey Westmore will stop at nothing to claim the boy she was meant to be with.

Without warning, Emma Gentry finds she cannot trust anything. Not her mind, her memory, not even herself. Tragic events and unexpected deaths stalk Alex and Emma, testing them in ways they would never imagine, and may not survive. Alex carries a new secret, and a horrifying guilt that Hailey uses to her advantage.

Emma’s life and sanity hang in the balance, and Alex may have created a monster…

Sounds awesome, amIright?

Tainted_Giveaway_Pic1To help spread the word. Ann and I are offering up two AH-mazing prize packs featuring signed books, Victoria’s Secret Love Spell perfume, a Starbucks gift card, and a handmade, one-of-a-kind voodoo bracelet.

As if that isn’t awesome enough, I’m throwing in a handmade voodoo bracelet, a bottle of Love Spell perfume by Victoria’s Secret, and a $10 Starbucks gift card.

The second prize winner will receive signed copies of all three books, both sets of bookmarks, a THIS WICKED GAME magnet, and a voodoo bracelet (it will be slightly different than the one pictured here).

Here’s your peek!

There were five rooms on the second floor, two of them with closed doors. Claire was willing to bet they were empty. The air was too still, the atmosphere devoid of life. She stepped toward the open doors first, peeking inside each before she lost her nerve.

No one was there, and she breathed a sigh of relief as she took in the two standard issue bedrooms, each of them holding a bed, bureau, desk, and chair.

The third open door was a bathroom. She left it alone. No one hid anything important in the bathroom.

She looked at Xander, raising her eyebrows in silent question and pointing to one of the closed doors.

He nodded, and she stepped toward the first room.

She eased the door open carefully, wincing when it creaked. Despite her belief that no one was in the house, she was relieved when an empty room was revealed.

This was where Eugenia slept, Claire was sure of it. The ghost of a heavy, classical perfume hung in the air; a set of elegant luggage stood against the wall. An iron banister was visible through a pair of French doors. Claire guessed it was the balcony at the back of the house.

Just to be safe, she turned and pushed open the door to the final room. Empty.

“No one’s home,” she said to Xander, tipping her head to the room that had been behind the first closed door. “I’m going to check out this one. Want to take the first two?”

He nodded. “We’ll do the last one together since it fronts the street. That way, one of us can keep watch.”

He disappeared through one of the doorways and Claire stepped into Eugenia’s room, her eyes coming to rest on a desk near the glass doors.

Something was tacked to the wall in front of it.

Stepping toward it, she stopped when she saw what was on its surface. She leaned in to get a better look at the photograph staring back at her.

It was a picture of Xander, walking one of the city’s streets, his hands shoved carelessly in his pockets. Claire recognized the blur of storefronts behind him. Probably somewhere near her house, though she couldn’t be sure. Xander, obviously the target of the photograph, took up almost the whole frame.

Claire’s heart thudded in her chest as her eyes surveyed the wall around Xander’s picture.

His wasn’t the only one. There was a photo of Charlie and William Valcour, sitting side by side at an outdoor café.

But this one was different; a red X was drawn through it.

The next picture was of Allegra St. Martin. Even through the red X, Claire could tell Allegra was in her car. Her black hair was shiny and full, her arm resting on the open window frame as she sat in the driver’s seat, probably stopped at a red light or something.

She thought of Allegra at the ball, how unexpectedly nice she’d been, and a chill ran up Claire’s spine.

“What the . . .” Xander said behind her, leaning over her shoulder. “What is all this?”

Claire was both mesmerized and horrified by the images in front of her. “I don’t know.”

The next picture was of Laura, a lock of curly hair falling forward as she bent her head to a book. The photo was crossed through with a red X just like the others.

Next to Laura’s picture was a photograph of little Daniel, walking next to someone much taller as he ate a dripping ice-cream cone. His picture had an X, too.

There was only one more image, tacked next to Daniel’s. Claire’s heart almost stopped when she saw Sasha’s smile, brilliant even in the black-and-white photo, the strap of her yoga mat just visible on one shoulder. Claire didn’t know whether to be relieved or scared that Sasha’s photo, like Xander’s, lacked the red X.

Her eyes roved the photographs, trying to figure out why the woman named Eugenia would have photographs of all of the young Guild members.

No. Not all.

All of the oldest children of the Guild’s most prominent families were represented on the wall—except for Claire.

“I don’t know what this is,” Xander said, “but we should hurry if we’re going to check out the other room. We’ve been inside for almost half an hour, and we have no idea how long they’ve already been gone and when they’ll be back.”

Claire nodded, pulling out her phone and taking a quick picture. The sight of the wall covered with photos—photos of people she knew and loved—was undeniably disturbing.

She glanced around, wanting to make sure they weren’t missing anything obvious, as they headed for the hall.

As soon as they entered the final room, Claire guessed it was Maximilian’s. The furnishings were just as generically antique as everywhere else in the house. A leather valise sat on top of the desk under the window and the heavy draperies were pulled shut as if to block out the modern world.

But it was more than that. The air was heavy with something bleak and dangerous. A palpable darkness, an ominous vibration she could feel under her skin. She had to fight the urge to run from the room. Fight the need to escape the feeling that something evil was wrapping its fingers around her heart and soul.

Also, I know I’ve been a bit MIA, but it’s for a good cause; I just finished a new book that will be out in 2015 (details to follow) and am digging back into an adult novel I hope to finish by the end of the year.

That said, everyone here is once again safely ensconced in the school routine, which means I’m getting back into my old schedule, too. And I have a bunch of recipes backed up for you guys!

So stay tuned…
